Pemuda merupakan generasi penerus bangsa, yang nantinya bukan tidak mungkin salah satu dari mereka bisa menjadi pemimpin bangsa. Zaman sekarang, bisa dibilang banyak pemuda dan pemudi yang telah mengukir namanya di batu prestasi bangsa, paling banyak di bidang pendidikan dan olahraga. Selain itu, tidak sedikit pula pemuda-pemuda yang justru membuat pengaruh buruk bagi masyarakat sekitarnya. Padahal kita tahu bahwa pada saat menjelang kemerdekaan Indonesia, para pemuda lah yang mendesak agar golongan yang tua segera memproklamirkan kemerdekaan, itu seharusnya menjadi motivasi setiap pemuda untuk lebih berkarya dan berkreatifitas untuk negaranya.

masa muda pada umumnya dapat dipandang sebagai suatu tahap dalam pembentukan kepribadian manusia karakteristis yang menonjol dari pemuda adalah peranannya dalam masa peralihan menuju pada kedudukan yang bertanggung jawab dalam tatanan masyarakat antara lain :
a. Kemurnian idealisme
b. Keberanian dan keterbukaannya dalam menyerap nilai-nilai dan gagasan baru
c. Semangat pengabdiannya
d. Spontanitas dan dinamikannya
e. Inofasi dan kreatifitasnya
f. Keinginan-keinginan untuk segera mewujudkan gagasan barunya

Berbagai macam permasalahan (tantangan) generasi muda yang muncul pada saat ini antara lain:

a. Menurunnya jiwa idealisme, patriotisme dan nasionalisme dikalangan masyarakat termasuk jiwa pemuda. Hal ini disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor yang dapat menghancurkan mental anak bangsa misalnya pengaruh lingkungan yang kurang baik,ketidakdisiplinan terhadap diri sendiri, organisasi-organisasi yang tidak membangun yang membawa perilaku buruk terhadap pemuda. Dsbnya.

b. ketidakadanya keyakinan yang dialami oleh generasi muda terhadap masa depannya (yaitu dengan bersikap pesimis terhadap masa depannya)

c. Belum adanya keseimbangan antara jumlah generasi muda dengan fasilitas pendidikan yang tersedia, baik yang formal maupun non formal. Fasilitas pendidikan yang yang disediakan pun tergolong masih khusus pada pemuda-pemuda tertentu belum secara umumnya, pentingnya sosialisasi dan pengarahan melalui pendidikan terhadap pemuda perlu ditingkatkan dalam membentuk karakter dan pola pikir anak bangsa(pemuda) yaitu sebagai contoh dengan meningkatkan pemahaman tentang nilai-nilai pancasila dalam kehidupan pemuda/i.

d. Kekurangan lapangan dan kesempatan kerja serta tinggi nya tingkat pengangguran dan setengah pengangguran dikalangan generasi muda mengakibatkan berkurangnya produktifitas oleh nilai-nilai kekuasaan dan sebagainya.

e. Masih langkanya pengalaman-pengalaman yang dapat merelefansikan pendapat sikap dan tindakanya dengan kenyataan yang ada.

Potensi generasi muda dalam pembangunan
 
Dipandang dari Dimensi Pembangunan Nasional
Hakekat pembangunan nasional adalah pembangunan manusia
Indonesia seutuhnyaand seluruh masyarakat Indonesia. Pengembangan generasi muda dalam konteks inidiarahkan untuk mempersiapkan kader-kader bangsa yang utuh dan paripurnaberkualifikasi kader bangsa seperti yang diisyaratkan tujuan pembangunan nasionalkita.Pendidikan nasional yang berdasarkan pancasila bertujuan untuk meningkatkanketakwaan terhadap Tuhan YME, mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa, berketerampilan,mempertinggi budi pekerti, memperkuat kepribadian dan mempertebal semangatkebangsaan.

Pendapat Para Ahli Mengenai Peran Pemuda dalam Pembangunan
Para ahli berbeda pendapat dalam mengungkap peran pemuda dalam pembangunan, perbedaan itu setidaknya terjadi pada pengungkapan istilah dan jumlah item dari peran-peran itu. Dalam hal ini setidaknya ada lima peran pemuda dalam pembangunan adalah sebagai berikut :
Satu, Pemuda sebagai Dinamisator Pembangunan
Dinamisator dalam bahasa sederhananya adalah penggerak.Satu hal lagi yang harus kita ingat bahwa pemuda itu diartikan juga komunitas penduduk yang mempunyai pikiran-pikiran muda seperti kreatif, inovatif dan desduktrif.  Karena mempunyai pikiran-pikiran muda seperti itu, maka pemuda akan senantiasa mempunyai kemauan dan kemampuan. Ketika kemauan dan kemampuan itu bersatu maka pemuda akan menjadi penggerak.
Dua, Pemuda sebagai Katalisator Pembangunan         
Perencanaan dan pelaksanaan pembangunan terkadang masih ada gap(jarak). Gap ini bisa terjadi dalam wujud ketidaksesuaian antara perencanaan dengan pelaksanaan, bisa juga dalam bentuk begitu lamanya jarak waktu antara perencanaan dan pelaksanaan. Dalam kontek gap seperti di atas, pemuda dengan jiwanya yang selalu kreatif, kreatif, dan desduktrif bisa menempatkan diri sebagaikatalisator (penghubung yang mempercepat) kesesuaian perencanaan dan pelaksanaan serta ketepatan waktu antara perencanaan dan pelaksanaan.
Tiga, Pemuda sebagai Motivator Pembangunan
Pembangunan merupakan tanggung jawab semua elemen masyarakat, kita tidak boleh membebankan pelaksanaan pembangunan hanya kepada pemerintah.Dalam kontek ini pemuda harus memerankan diri sebagai motivator (pendorong) kepada semua elemen masyarakat untuk maubersama-sama bahu-membahu melaksanakan dan mensukseskan pembangunan.
Empat, Pemuda sebagai Inovator Pembangunan
Dalam kajian psikologi pemuda mempunyai karakteristik selalu berpikir rasional dan ideal.Karena karakteristik itulah, pembaharuan-pembaharuan sering muncul dari pemuda.Karakteristik yang akhirnya melahirkan semangat inovasi harus juga merambah ke sektor pelaksanaan pembangunan. Pemuda dengan jiwa yang tidak pernah puas terhadap satu keberhasilan akan selalu mencari keberhasilan kedua, ketiga dan seterusnya. Pemuda dengan jiwa inovasinya tidak akan merasa puas dan berdiam diri dengan suatu system yang telah mencapai angka keberhasilan 100% tetapi akan selalu berimprovisasi mencari sebuah system yang bisa menghantarkan keberhasilan ke angka 1000%.
Lima, Pemuda sebagai Evaluator Pembangunan                                        
Derap langkah proses pembangunan yang dilakukan semua pihak tentu tidak boleh lepas dari kontrol kaum intelektual muda (pemuda) yang secara kapabilitas mereka lebih mengetahui indikator-indikator penyimpangan, penyelewengan, kegagalan, dan manipulasi lainnya dalam kegiatan pembangunan. Bentuk kontrol sebagai bagian dari wujud evaluasi hendaknya dilakukan secara efektif, efisien dan tidak berdampak negatif terhadap laju pembangunan. Audensi, Dengar Pendapat, dan Dialog merupakan alternatif yang bisa dipilih pemuda dalam menyampaikan hasil evaluasi pembangunan.
Ke-lima peran pemuda tersebut akan berhasil guna dan berdaya guna dalam proses pembangunan ketika ada komitmen dan konsistensi pemuda untuk senantiasa melakukan perubahan dan perbaikan demi kesejahteraan masyarakat, tidak terjebak pada ranah pragmatisme yang mengungkung idealisme dan rasionalisme, tidak mengedepankan kepentingan pribadi atau kelompok, tidak juga menjadi alat politik dari sebuah kelompok. Hal ini perlu dipertegas mengingat praktek-praktek in-idealisme, dan in-konsistensi semakin sering muncul kepermukaan.
Pemuda dengan kapasitas dan kapabilitas yang tidak diragukan lagi, sudah mampu masuk elemen-elemen pelaksana pembangunan, ada yang menjadi bagian dari pemerintah (eksekutif), pengusaha (kontraktor), lembaga swadaya masyarakat, dewan perwakilan rakyat (legislatif), aparatur penegak hukum (yudikatif) dan lain-lain. Dalam kontek perubahan dan perbaikan hendaknya semua elemen pelaksana pembangunan yang didalamnya ada pemuda duduk bersama melakukan kajian strategis perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan kontroling/evaluasi pembangunan dengan  senantiasa membingkai diri dengan nilai-nilai agama; jujur, adil, bersih, berpihak kepada kesejahteraan masyarakat, dan professional.
Apabila pemuda sudah mampu memainkan peran dalam pembangunan dengan baik, dan derap  langkah memainkan peran tersebut didasari ilmu serta dikerangka-i nilai-nilai agama, maka menjadi harapan besar proses pembangunan akan berhasil mensejahterakan rakyat. 

Potensi generasi muda secara umum
Potensi yang terdapat pada generasi muda yang perlu dikembangkan adalah sebagai berikut:
a. Idealisme dan daya kritis
Secara sosiologis generasi muda belum mapan dalam tatanan yang ada sehingga dia dapat melihat kekurangan dalam tatanan tersebut dan secara wajar mampu mencari gagasan baru sebagai alternatif kearah perwujudan kearah tatanan yang lebih baik

b. Dinamika dan kreatifitas
Adanya idealisme pada generasi muda mnyebabkan mereka mimiliki potensi kedinamisan dan kreatifitas, yakni kemampun dan kesediaan untuk mengadakan perubahan, pembaharuan dan penyempurnaan kekurangan yang ada ataupun mengungkapkan gagasan yang baru

c. Keberanian mengambil resiko
Perubahan dan pembaharua termasuk pembangunan mengandung resiko dapat meleset terhambat atau gagal. Namun mengambil resiko itu diperlukan jika ingin memperoleh kemajuan.

d. Optimis dan kegairahan semangat
Kegagalan tidak menyebabkan generasi mudah patah semangat. Optimisme dan kegairahan semangat yang dimiliki generasi muda merupakan daya pendorong untuk mencoba maju lagi.

e. Sikap kemandirian dan disiplin murni
Generasi memiliki keinginan untuk selalu mandiri dalam sikap dan tindakannya. Sikap kemandirian itu perlu dilengkapi kesadaran disiplin murni pada dirinya agar mereka dapat menyadari batas-batas yang wajar dan memiliki tenggang rasa.

f. Terdidik
Walaupun dengan memperhitungkan faktor putus sekolah, secara menyeluruh baik dalam arti kuantitatif maupun dalam arti kualitatif, generasi muda secara relatif lebih terpelajar karena lebih terbukanya kesempatan belajar dari generasi pendahulunya.


g. Keanekaragaman dalam persatuan dan kesatuan
Keanekaragaman generasi muda merupakan cermin keanekaragaman masyarakat kita. Keanekaragaman tersebut dapat menjadi hambatan jika dihayati secara sempit dan eksklusif, tapi dapat merupakan potensi dinamis dan kreatif sehingga merupakan sumber yang besar untuk kemajuan bangsanya. Maka para pemuda dapat didorong untuk menampilkan potensinya yang terbaik dan diberi peran yang jelas serta bertanggung jawab dalam menuju cita-cita bangsa.

h. Patriotisme dan Nasionalisme
Pemupukan rasa kebangsaan, kecintaan dan turut memiliki bangsa dan negara dikalangan pemuda perlu ditingkatkan
  
i. Fisik kuat dan jumlah banyak
Potensi ini merupakan kenyataan sosiologis dan demografis. Dapat dimanfaatkan dalam kegiatan pembangunan bangsa dan negaranya yang menghendaki pengarahan tenaga dalam jumlah besar.

j. Sikap kesatria
kemurnian idealisme, keberanian, semangat pengabdian dan pengorbanan serta rasa tanggung jawab sosial yang tinggi adalah unsur-unsur yang perlu dipupuk dan dikembangkan terus menjadi sikap kesatria

k. Kemampuan penguasaan ilmu dan teknologi
Para pemuda dapat berperan secara berdaya guna dalam rangka pengembangan ilmu dan teknologi secara fungsional dapat dikembangkan sebagai transformator terhadap lingkungannya.

2.1 The Importance of English
            In today’s global world, the importance of English can not be denied and ignored since English is the most common language spoken everywhere. With the help of developing technology, English has been playing a major role in many sectors including medicine, engineering, and education, which, in my opinion, is the most important arena where English is needed. This can merely be based on the efficiency of tertiary education. Consequently, English should be the medium of instruction at universities in Indonesia for the following three reasons: finding a high-quality job, communicating with the international world, and accessing scientific sources in the student’s major field.
The first reason for why English should be the medium of instruction at universities in Indonesia is it helps students to find a high quality jobs for students. In business life, the most important common language is obviously English. In addition to this, especially, high-quality jobs need good understanding ability and speaking in English. Therefore, companies can

easily open out to other countries, and these companies generally employ
graduates whose English is fluent and orderly. For example, the student who is graduated from a university which takes English as a major language will find a better or high-quality job than other students who don’t know English adequately. In other words, the student who knows English is able to be more efficient in his job because he can use the information from foreign sources and web sites. He can prepare his assignments and tasks with the help of these information. Therefore, undoubtedly, his managers would like his effort or prepared projects. In addition, many high-quality jobs are related with international communication and world-wide data sharing. University graduates who are in a international company and business are needed to communicate with foreign workers. For instance, if their managers want them to share the company’s data, they are expected to know English. Moreover, they will even have to go business trip for their company. Absolutely, all of these depend on speaking English: as a result, new graduates have to know English in order to get a high-quality job, and the others, who don’t know English, may have lack of communication and be paid less money.

The second and the most important reason, for English to be the medium of instruction in the Indonesian higher education system is it enables

students to communicate with the international world. In these days, in my opinion, the most important thing for both university students and graduates is to follow the development in technology. For this reason, they have to learn common language. Certainly, they should not lose their interest on communicating with the world. However, some of the university students can’t obtain English education in their university. Unfortunately, these people may lose their communication with worldwide subjects and topics. In short, they will not communicate foreign people. To prevent these people from lacking of speaking English, universities’ administration will provide English education to them. In addition, university students can use some specific hardware and software of computers with their English to communicate others. For example, the Internet, which, in my opinion, is the largest source in the world, based on English knowledge and information. Also, most of the softwares such as “Windows”, “Microsoft Office”, “Internet Explorer” are written in English firstly, and these programs are the basic vital things for communication over computer. That is to say, even in a little research about something, they need these programs and the Internet to find necessary sources and information.

The last reason for favoring English as the medium of instruction of Indonesian universities is it facilitates to access information. All of the

students have to do some projects or home works which are related with their field during the university education. In these projects or home works, they have to find some information which is connected with their subject. They find sources from English web sites and books, but they have to replace these data to their projects. During these process, if they know English, they will not come across with any difficulty, but if they don’t know, even they may not use these data. As a result, the student who knows English will be more successful at his/her project. For this reason, to obstruct possible inequity between students, management of universities should accept English as a second language in order to provide accessing information to the students. In short, university students need to know English to access information.

All in all, the education in universities should be done with English for three reasons. First, students who know English are able to find their favourite job related with their field. Second, they can communicate with others internationally.
Third, as a major language in universities, English makes accessing information easy for students. In my opinion, internationally, people need one common language. For many years, English has been the common world-
wide language, and it will be in the future.

For this reason, if you want to follow trends, new gadgets and technology, modernization of the developing world, you have to know English whatever age you are in.

2.2 ASEAN Economic Community 2015
            The purpose of the ASEAN Economic Community is to improve the economic competitiveness of ASEAN countries to make ASEAN as a production base not only become the market of developed countries, such as America, European countries and the countries of East Asia, as well as attracting investment and improving trade among its members in order to compete in the face of global challenges, and furthermore is to reduce poverty and social disparities between member States through a number of mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
       ASEAN as a single market and single production-based, supported by elements of the free flow of goods, services, investment, labor and capital flows educated wider. ASEAN as a region with high economic competitiveness, with elements of competition rules, consumer protection, intellectual property ha katas, infrastructure development, taxation and e-commerce .ASEAN as a region of equitable economic development with elements of small and medium enterprise development, and the ASEAN integration initiative for the State CMLV (Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, and

Vietnam). ASEAN as a region fully integrated into the global economy with a coherent approach in the external economic relations in the region and increase participation in global production networks.

2.3 The role of English in ASEAN Economic Community 2015
       Nowadays, in the global era, communication has become one of the most crucial elements. Without good communication, people from different nations won’t be able to understand each other, when people don’t understand each other, there are possibilities that misunderstanding will happen. That’s why, good communication among people from different countries is needed. This situation, where people need to understand each other with good communication, urges people to acquire global.
       English even also used in so many branches of disciplines such as philosophy,sociology, literature, linguistics, law, and others. Therefore, by learning English, itwill be easier to acquire new knowledge. Furthermore, it has also been officially proclaimed by as an international language which means that in the internationalschool level, English language is always used as the medium language. In Indonesia For instance, in RSBI or SBI schools, English is used as the medium for most of the courses except Bahasa Indonesia course and local language courses such as Javanese,Balinese and others.

            Since the members of AEC agree to use English as their communication language, English plays important role in the process they communicate each other. 
English has become important to be mastered by all the element of the country to support that program in each country. English really takes effect for AEC 2015, the residents should need to improve their English skills to compete with other countries, because it can influence the economy level and competitive. It also attract more foreign to invest.
      Therefore, English is very important for people who will be facing the entry of the AEC especially to Indonesia. So that English language lessons in education must be improved in order to compete, and facing the AEC in Indonesia .

2.4 The Positive and Negative Points of Using English in ASEAN Economic Community 2015
We all know ASEAN countries had decided that English is the official language for ASEAN Economic Community 2015. That condition compels us to be able to speak English since we are willing to face AEC 2015.

 ASEAN Economic Community has positive and negative point. The positive point, we can say, can encourage the development of the country, because this globalization will give big opportunity to develop any kinds of sector.

To face this globalization era the first thing that we can do is to master English because communication is the most important thing when we build a relationship between people. Because English is the most spoken language that used in every country. So, to keep in track in this globalization era, understanding and using English well is a must. When people cannot understand English, they cannot communicate with foreign people and when they cannot communicate with foreign people, they cannot have a good relationship and they cannot face the globalization era.
The fundamental matter that should be prioritised by the government, Especially in Indonesia in facing the AEC in 2015 is to improve its orientation towards education and human resource development.  The Government should prioritise, within the next five years, improving the educational qualifications of its workforce which consists largely of primary school graduates, to be upgraded to at least a high school graduate. This is urgently needed so that workers are able to sustain themselves once the AEC comes

into effect. Improving English language lessons, so that they can face the
AEC 2015.
        Then, the negative point doesn’t really become such big issue, through globalization area, there will be more various culture that will come into Indonesia, we cannot filter it, if we can keep our originality it will be better, but if we can’t so our own culture will fade away. If we are able to select the good one, so it will enrich our culture.
To solve this negative point, we, especially in Indonesia, have to keep our culture originality and make it as our unique point, so it can attract foreigner to come to Indonesia. And also, Indonesia should gradually improve its scholarship programme for local students and overseas students, and
implement performance targets to increase the national number of post-graduate degree holder. With the increase in numbers of workers with higher educational qualifications through reform in Indonesia education, Indonesia will become a potentially strong player in the regional and global workforce sectors. Although the country will face the AEC in 2015 highly unprepared, I believe that through proper education policy reform, Indonesia will be able to ride the momentum within the next few years.

Conclusion
The conclusion is for the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015, English language is needed to learn, in order to face the era. In social life, English is needed to communicate, especially when many tourists come to Indonesia for a vacation, business, and others. when looking for a job in ASEAN Economic Community 2015, which is where the all-free would be easier to get the job.

If they don’t master English, they will have difficulty in getting informations since everything provided in English version.

Therefore, by learning English, itwill be easier to acquire new knowledge. Furthermore, it has also been officially proclaimed by as an international language which means that in the internationalschool level, English language is always used as the medium language. In Indonesia For instance, in RSBI or SBI schools, English is used as the medium for most of thecourses except Bahasa Indonesia course and local language courses such as Javanese,Balinese and others.

  Since the members of AEC agree to use English as their communication language, English plays important role in the process they communicate each other. 
English has become important to be mastered by all the element of the country to support that program in each country. English really takes effect for AEC 2015, the residents should need to improve their English skills to compete with other countries, because it can influence the economy level and competitive. It also attract more foreign to invest.
      Therefore, English is very important for people who will be facing the entry of the AEC especially to Indonesia. So that English language lessons in education must be improved in order to compete, and facing the AEC in Indonesia .

2.4 The Positive and Negative Points of Using English in ASEAN Economic Community 2015
We all know ASEAN countries had decided that English is the official language for ASEAN Economic Community 2015. That condition compels us to be able to speak English since we are willing to face AEC 2015.
      ASEAN Economic Community has positive and negative point. The positive point, we can say, can encourage the development of the country, because this globalization will give big opportunity to develop any kinds of sector.
       To face this globalization era the first thing that we can do is to master English because communication is the most important thing when we build a relationship between people. Because English is the most spoken language that used in every country. So, to keep in track in this globalization era, understanding and using English well is a must. When people cannot understand English, they cannot communicate with foreign people and when they cannot communicate with foreign people, they cannot have a good relationship and they cannot face the globalization era.

The fundamental matter that should be prioritised by the government, Especially in Indonesia in facing the AEC in 2015 is to improve its orientation towards education and human resource development.  The Government should prioritise, within the next five years, improving the educational qualifications of its workforce which consists largely of primary school graduates, to be upgraded to at least a high school graduate. This is urgently needed so that workers are able to sustain themselves once the AEC comes into effect. Improving English language lessons, so that they can face the AEC 2015.
        Then, the negative point doesn’t really become such big issue, through globalization area, there will be more various culture that will come into Indonesia, we cannot filter it, if we can keep our originality it will be better, but if we can’t so our own culture will fade away. If we are able to select the good one, so it will enrich our culture.

To solve this negative point, we, especially in Indonesia, have to keep our culture originality and make it as our unique point, so it can attract foreigner to come to  Indonesia. And also, Indonesia should gradually improve its scholarship programme for local students and overseas students, and
implement performance targets to increase the national number of post-graduate degree holder. With the increase in numbers of workers with higher educational qualifications through reform in Indonesia education, Indonesia will become a potentially strong player in the regional and global workforce sectors. Although the country will face the AEC in 2015 highly unprepared, I believe that through proper education policy reform, Indonesia will be able to ride the momentum within the next few years.
